Traumatic Brain Injury

A traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a life-altering event. Depending on the severity of the injury, the patient can go from being completely independent to needing constant supervision and care.

If you have a loved one with a traumatic brain injury who lives in your home, you may need some additional help to meet his or her specific care needs. That’s why Independent Adult Day Centers was founded.

The Benefits of Partnering with IADC

Many central Indiana families choose to partner with Independent Adult Day Centers because their loved ones with a significant head injury can still have a sense of independence and community around them, while also receiving the proper care during the day. Caregivers often turn to IADC for additional support during the day while they are at work or running other errands.

Our centers have full-time LPNs, RN’s, CNAs, and HHAs on staff daily who can care for your loved one’s specific needs. With a 6:1 guest-to-employee ratio, you’ll have the peace of mind of knowing your family member or friend is receiving the individualized attention he or she needs.

Some of the benefits of partnering with IADC for Adult Day Services for your loved one with a traumatic brain injury include:

Medical Care

Some adult day centers provide activities for their guests but do not have medical staff. IADC is different because our staff includes LPNs and RNs on-site to assist our patients with their medical needs. We monitor vital signs, assist with chronic disease management and administer medications and treatments and perform skilled nursing care including wound care, ostomy care, and feeding tubes. Along with overall health monitoring, our staff engages with your loved one to ensure she or he is comfortable, happy, and not overstimulated by the environment.

Meals

At Independent Adult Day Centers, your loved one will be treated to exceptional food. We serve breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack to our guests. All of the food is approved by a registered dietitian and is made from scratch daily by a professional chef. We can accommodate a variety of special diets including food allergies, diabetic and heart-healthy, pureed, mechanical soft, and more.

Transportation

Independent Adult Day Centers can also pick up guests each morning from their homes and drop them back off in the evening.

Activities and Socialization

Recovering from a traumatic brain injury can involve a lot of time spent in isolation at home. Independent Adult Day Centers can provide the socialization and engagement that guests need. We have several comfortable couches in our beautiful and expansive centers for our guests to relax and recharge. We also have various activities that guests can take part in, including arts and crafts, baking, games, and a weekly community outing. Activities change frequently and more are added as needed.
