Medical Services

Independent Adult Day Centers offers nursing care and oversight at each of our daytime, non-residential Centers for adults 18 and over with special health needs. What makes our services unique is that your loved one or family member can receive needed medical care and supervision while enjoying the benefits of socialization and mental and physical stimulation during the day at one of our three Indianapolis area Centers, while still continuing to live at home.

Whether it’s a half-day or five full-days per week, our Adult Day Services program offers our Guests’ families and at-home caregivers much-needed relief and peace of mind based on the schedule of their choice. Families appreciate our services and have confidence knowing their loved one is receiving the care and oversight from a trained medical team that includes RNs, LPNs, MA’s, CNAs and HHAs.

Medical Services at Independent Adult Day Centers

The goal of Independent Adult Day Centers is to provide supervision to keep your loved one safe, healthy and happy. This is why the staff at all of the Independent Adult Day Centers includes skilled nurses. RNs and LPNs will assess your loved ones when they join us to understand their healthcare needs.

Our skilled team performs routine wellness checks, as well as monitors blood sugar, blood pressure, and weight. When you trust your loved one to our Centers, you’ll feel confident that they’ll receive expert care from our nursing staff if needed. Our medical services include:

Medication Administration

We provide medication management, including reminders and administration. Our nursing team works alongside your Guest’s physician to ensure our medical records and medications are all current. We store Guests’ medications in a secure cabinet in the Examination room, and administer medications daily according to the prescribed schedule.

Ongoing Health Assessments

When our Guests join IADC, we conduct an interview with an IADC nurse to perform an in-depth health assessment to understand their medical needs. This gives us a better understanding of our Guest’s weight, blood sugar, and medication management. Then, we regularly take vital signs and reassess your loved one’s needs on an ongoing basis as needed.

Skilled Nursing Care

Our nurses cannot prescribe care, but they can execute care based on our Guests’ Doctor’s recommendations. As part of our skilled nursing care, our team actively monitors conditions – including diabetes, CHF, COPD and more – updates care plans, and communicates conditions with relevant parties involved. We provide medical care based on the needs of the existing conditions. We also have expertise in trach, G-tube, catheter care, wound care, feeding tubes, oxygen tanks and more.

Therapy

As part of the Continuum of Care, Guests may require physician ordered therapies such as physical therapy, occupation therapy, or speech therapy. IADC is proud to provide these services through independent Home Health Care. Each Center has a designated therapy gym where therapists can work with guests at the Center too. Some restrictions may apply based on the services Guests require.
