Adult Day Services For
Alzheimer's Patients

Alzheimer’s is a devastating disease that affects about 6.5 million Americans. Symptoms of Alzheimer’s vary depending on the stage – early, middle and late – meaning care for individuals affected by this disease can vary from person to person.

If you have a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease who lives at home, you understand just how challenging caring for them can be. Independent Adult Day Centers was founded to help people just like you with our unique daytime, non-residential Adult Day Services program.

Residential care options require your loved one to leave behind the familiarity and comfort of their home and community. This change can be accompanied by a decline in condition. Our Adult Day Services allow your loved one to continue to live at home while taking the burden of care during the day from family and other at-home caregivers. We offer day service at three Indianapolis area locations. Our commitment to caring extends in the home as well with our available Attendant Care, Home Health Care and Healthcare Coordination services. To learn how these services can serve you and your loved one, contact Independent Adult Day Centers today.

Serving Guests with Alzheimer’s Disease at Our Adult Day Centers

Families often choose to partner with Independent Adult Day Centers because they want to continue caring for their loved ones at home for as long as possible. They want to avoid institutionalization, but still desire their loved one to be able to get out of the house and experience the benefits of social and mental stimulation as well as physical activity. Experiencing this type of activity is shown to reduce sundowning behaviors in those with Alzheimer’s Disease and promotes more restful sleep at night. Our day services allow a break for the at-home caregiver and allow an opportunity to help restore your relationship with your loved one which often improves the quality of the time you spend together. Individuals with advanced stages of Alzheimer’s often cannot be left alone due to severe memory loss and confusion. Independent Adult Day Centers provides supervised care in a safe home-like environment for all stages of the disease. Our Adult Day Services program allows Guests to receive care and also socialize with others.

The following services at Independent Adult Day Centers benefit those with Alzheimer’s Disease and their caregivers:

  • Transportation. Guests within a 10-mile radius of our Centers are offered door-to-door transportation to and from the Center. Our drivers are trained to safely transport those with Alzheimer’s Disease. Care for our Guests with Alzheimer’s Disease begins as soon as our drivers escort them to our vehicle.
  • Activities and Socialization. At the Centers, our Guests with Alzheimer’s can participate in stimulating and entertaining activities that are tailored to their individual capabilities. We offer fun activities including baking, games, arts and crafts, and so much more. We also take part in community outings throughout the week where our Guests can visit local restaurants, museums and parks.
  • Medical Care. Each Guest’s medical care, including care for Alzheimer’s Disease, is overseen by experienced LPN’s and RN’s. Before Guests start service at one of our Centers, we conduct a comprehensive health assessment to fully understand their history, and we develop a care plan to care for their individual health needs. We continually monitor their condition and can provide assistance with other existing conditions such as diabetes management, medication management, feeding tubes, and oxygen tanks.
  • Nutritious Meals. We prepare homemade meals throughout the day including breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack. All of our meals are chef-prepared in-house and approved by a registered dietician. Our meals are prepared using mostly organic and locally raised meat and produce. We avoid processed foods that include chemical preservatives and strictly limit the use of refined carbohydrates. This nutritional approach has been proven to reduce inflammation and be beneficial for many of the co-morbidities associated with Alzheimer’s disease, including hypertension and diabetes.
